I’m going to miss my big sister.  She was only two years older than I, but she always looked out for me and protected me, her little sister “Sam”.

I’ll still have wonderful memories of our childhood – sledding down Deadman’s Hill, rock-climbing, and playing softball in Herring Run Park, buying Tastykakes for 7 cents to share after school.  She was the serious, more responsible one who loved school, and I just wanted to play.  And of course we fought like all sisters do.  But subconsciously I knew she was always looking out for me.

It was only when we became adults that I came to truly appreciate how wonderful Diana was.  She was the most generous, kind, and gentle person I’ve known, who always wanted to help others, and worried about other people more than herself.  She was inquisitive and continually investigating new interests to expand her mind.  She was a dedicated mother to three children.  Even during her final days, Diana was excited by the beauty of life around her.

Although I moved across the continent, we still remained close and shared our lives by phone, letters, and visits.

I’m going to miss my big sister, I loved her very much.
